VinoJazz 2006 offers taste of more than 70 wines

2006-09-15 / On The Town

VinoJazz Fall Festival 2006 is set for Sept. 16 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Simi Valley Town Center.

This year's celebration will feature live jazz, wine tastings from around the world and food by five-star chefs.

The nonprofit event is a fundraiser for the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Foundation, which provides arts education for youth and annually gives away thousands of free passes for cultural events to low-income youth and families.

At least 14 wineries from Argentina, Australia, Chile, France, and California will pour more than 70 wines. In addition to the tasting, aficionados can learn wine pairing tips and receive wine tasting notes at each station.

The menu features appetizers, main courses and desserts.

Musicians scheduled to perform include Bob Couto and the LA Jazz Band, Festivo, Bluez Boys, Kirk and David classical jazz artists, Danny Carreras' Salsa Jazz Band and others.

A VIP ticket includes a free souvenir wine glass, reception

and dinner. The silent and live auctions will feature gift packages from Southern California businesses, including the opportunity to win a 5-star cruise for two.

Tax-deductible tickets are $125 per person. All proceeds directly benefit Simi Valley and surrounding cities.
