Unhappy that Mites weren't mentioned in football story
As I read your article ("Football isn't just for big guys any longer," Sept. 8) you completely missed mentioning another team which would be the Mighty Mite Whites.
Many parents were upset to read that their sons and their participation were completely ignored. These kids work just as hard as the other teams and their parents are there for them just as much as the other two teams.
When you write an article like this you should include all the teams, especially in a small town that is as family oriented as Simi Valley. It was great for the Mighty Mite program to get exposure to let the community know that this program exists and is successful, but nevertheless, feelings were hurt.
Our team was made to feel that they were not as important as the Gold and Green, but their hard work showed up on Saturday's game with Moorpark Packers by them winning 20 to 6. As I end this (letter) we must not forget the other teams from the other areas such as Westlake, Fillmore, Camarillo and Moorpark that are also part of the Mighty Mite organization.
