City Manager Mike Sedell recently announced the resignation of Steve Elam, director of administrative services, who has accepted a similar position for the city of Moreno Valley.

Elam's last day of employment with the city will be Sept. 22.

Elam has served Simi Valley for 10 years. During his tenure, he oversaw the implementation of a new computerized financial reporting and processing system and an enhanced citywide radio communication system. He also managed the city's financial services program, which has consistently been recognized for the excellence of its financial reporting, budget and treasury programs.

In accepting Elam's resignation, Sedell said, "Steve has been a valued member of our city's executive team, a dedicated professional who has effectively carried forward the City Council's goals for the sound fiscal management of public resources. He has served this community well and we wish him the best in his new position."

"It has been a privilege to work for such an outstanding organization the past 10 years," Elam said. "I've enjoyed my professional association with city staff and been honored to serve under such an exceptional City Council. Although moving on to some exciting new challenges, I will miss living and working in this great community."

Dan Paranick, deputy city manager, will be appointed interim director of administrative services pending a review of options for filling the upcoming vacancy.
