Charity walk for pet lovers

Animal Rescue Volunteers will host a Wag N' Walk to benefit homeless and abused animals on Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Arroyo Simi Equestrian Center, 3495 Chicory Leaf Place.

Check-in and breakfast begin at 8 a.m., with opening ceremonies and a 5K walk at 9 a.m.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three fundraisers and water will be provided to the walkers. Participants are free to walk with their dogs on leashes.

A silent auction and dog and cat adoptions will also take place. The event is a fundraiser to

help the organization to continue its work in rescuing and finding a home for abused and neglected animals.

The group has been rescuing animals in need since 1994 in cooperation with police and fire departments of Ventura and Los Angeles counties and the city of Los Angeles Animal Shelter system.

The volunteers assist in rescues of animals during wildfires, in domestic violence situations and from shelter overcrowding.
