A candle walk to honor military veterans who are in hospitals is scheduled from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fri., Sept. 15 at Rancho Tapo Community Park Veterans Plaza, 3700 Avenida Simi in Simi Valley, close to the Senior Citizens Building.

Candles will be provided, or participants may bring their own.

According to event organizers, the candlelight walk "is to tell our veterans that we care for them and fighting for our country."

The event will recognize men and women in all branches of the armed forces and veterans in wars ranging from World War II through current overseas engagements. Mayor Paul Miller is expected to attend.
