Virtual academy offers event for returning students

The California Virtual Academies will host a free Back to School event for parents of students to meet the teachers and get reading for the upcoming school year.

The event is also open for families interested in learning more about this public school.

In Simi Valley, the event will be at 3 p.m. (K through first grade only) and 6:30 p.m. on Thurs., Aug. 24 at the Courtyard by Marriott, 191 E. Cochran St.

The California Virtual Academies are a network of public virtual charter schools offering a comprehensive curriculum in six tradition subjects. Students work at home with a parent or responsible adult and receive instruction and guidance from certified public school teachers who operate remotely.
