The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging recently announced its intention to renew contracts with its Senior Nutrition Program service provider partners for fiscal year 2006-07, which began July 1 and will continue through June 30, 2007.

The continuing contractors are ConAgra Culinary Products, $287,993, to provide nutritional packaged meals; and Jordano's Food Service, $213,659, to provide food supplements and delivery of food products to meal sites.

Contractors continuing to serve congregate meals plus home-delivered meals include the Camarillo Health Care District, $52,099; city of Moorpark, $15,100; and the city of Simi Valley, $35,842.

Contractors continuing to serve congregate meals only (no home deliveries) include the city of Thousand Oaks, $15,664.

The county's Senior Nutrition Program provides nutritious meals to individuals 60 years of age and over. Congregate lunch meals are served in Camarillo, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks and other Ventura County cities. The congregate sites provide an opportunity for socializing, and many sites offer lunchtime programs.

Senior Nutrition Program home-delivered meals are available for homebound seniors in all of the cities serving congregate meals except Santa Paula and Thousand Oaks. Participants are welcome to make a confidential donation for the meal; however, they are not required to do so. The suggested donation varies among the meal sites and is typically in the range of $2.25 to $3 per meal.
