Paint Horse Club holds vet clinic
The Greater Los Angeles Paint Horse Club recently hosted a successful Farrier and Veterinary Clinic. The club is based in Simi Valley.
The clinic was staged in one of several arenas owned by the residents of the Bridlepath equestrian community in the west end of Simi Valley.
Thomas Trosin, AFA certified farrier and president of the Western States Farriers Association, spoke about the importance of proper foot care and maintenance for horses. A well-balanced foot can make a horse travel better and be more comfortable.
Marta E. Granstedt, DVM, addressed many issues, including vaccinations, worming, feeding, teeth care, flies, horse clothes, bedding materials, exercise, snake bites and how to make a horse more comfortable in hot weather.
Granstedt demonstrated her talk with Maggie, a bay tobiano registered American Point Horse who belongs to club member Nancy Reeves.
The club plans other education events in the future. For more information on the club or the American Paint Horse, call Susan Fleczok at (805) 527-9655.
