Howard Davis has been named the new athletic director at Moorpark College.

Davis is currently athletic director at Pacifica High School in Oxnard. He will begin his duties at Moorpark on July 1, replacing John Keever who retires June 30 after 37 years of service to student athletes at the college.

"Howard has a clear vision of how a competitive athletic program should operate, having coached at the high school and community college level for more than 20 years and managing a 22-sport high school program since fall of 2000," said Moorpark College President Eva Conrad.

"He has demonstrated sensitivity and understanding of the diverse academic and demographic backgrounds of student athletes, has ensured compliance with state regulations governing athletic competition and championed student success for

athletes," Conrad said. "While at Pacifica, he increased athletic department revenues and maximized limited resources, strategies that will be critical to our college's program in the future."

Davis is the fourth full-time athletic director in Moorpark's 39-year history. He will oversee 17 intercollegiate sports programs that compete in the Western State Conference.

"This is a lifetime opportunity for me," Davis said."Moorpark College has a statewide reputation of athletic and academic excellence, built by John Keever and the entire coaching staff over the last 39 years. I feel extremely fortunate to have been selected and will work diligently to build on that success."
