Catch 'Wizard of Oz' at local parks
"The Wizard of Oz" is next up for the Gypsies in a Trunk as they continue their 12th season of free Fairytales in the Park presentations. Families are invited to join the fun as Dorothy and Toto search for a way home with the help of the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion, dodging the Wicked Witch en route to meeting the Wizard of Oz.
Local author, playwright and actor Chris Carnicelli has written another fun tale for all ages to enjoy. Cast members include Carnicelli, Julie McDonald, Pat Newbert (also the director), Jeff Wallach, James Ward and Marilyn Zaslow.
All performances are presented in relaxed outdoor settings to allow children and their families to experience live theatre. In the age-old gypsy tradition, actors pass the hat at intermission, welcoming donations to help cover the costs of costumes and props. Picnickers are welcome. Dogs should be left home.
