The California Highway Patrol in Moorpark said it will begin accepting applications in mid-July for their new Explorers volunteer program set to begin later this summer.

The volunteer program is intended to give Ventura County residents between the ages of 15 and 21 who are interested in a career in law enforcement a

chance to see firsthand how the CHP works. The program also helps would-be officers understand the day-to-day operations of a police station.

Applications for the Explorers Program are available at the CHP station at 610 Spring Road in Moorpark or by calling (805) 553-0800.
