YMCA will host campout for Simi kids
The Simi Valley Family YMCA will sponsor resident camp from Sat., July 15 through 22 at Camp Elk in Wrightwood.
Campers entering grades four through 10 will be in the youth camp and those entering grades 11 and 12 will be in the leadersin-training camp.
Activities include campfires, swimming in the camp pool, canoeing in the lake, rock wall climbing, organized sports, hiking, archery, arts and crafts and dances.
"Camp Elk is a great, old-fashioned camp where kids get away from their computers, cellphones and IPods for a week and just enjoy nature and being a kid," said Lisa Tate, senior program director at the Y.
A parent information/camp rally night will be on July 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Simi YMCA, 3200 Cochran St., corner of Cochran and Galena in Simi Valley. All registration and payments are due at that time.
The cost, which includes transportation, cabin lodging and food, is $405 for program members and $415 for non-members.
For more information, call the Simi Valley Family YMCA at (805) 583-5338.
