Local attorney protects intellectual properties

2006-05-26 / Business

Simi Valley attorney Elizabeth Keschner has practiced trademark and copyright law since 1995. She has filed or initiated filing of hundreds of trademarks and copyrights in the U.S. and more than 40 foreign countries, including Australia, France, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Keschner said many entrepreneurs and businesses do not protect their logos, slogans and brand names as they fail to register their assets with the proper government authorities. Even sounds, scents and colors can also be protected through intellectual property law.

Keschner first worked as a volunteer helping underprivileged clients with matters of eviction, bankruptcy and social security and welfare benefits. She also volunteered at the Office of City Attorney in Santa Ana with regard to civil complaints and the Los Angeles Department of Industrial Relations with regard to labor law violations.

In addition, she served as a volunteer law clerk for the Superior Court of Los Angeles where she helped obtain re

straining orders to protect underprivileged victims of domestic violence.

For more than six years, Keschner has been the in-house trademark counsel for an international clothing designer in Beverly Hills.

Keschner reaches out to entrepreneurs and businesses that are not being served by large, multinational law firms and would benefit from her services.
