Sports for seniors available in Simi
The senior adult softball league invites seniors ages 50 and up to free drop-in softball games from 9:30 to 11:30 am. every Monday at Rancho Tapo Community Park, 3700 Avenida Simi, Simi Valley.
Seniors may bring their own gloves, bats and other equipment to play a fun, non-competitive non-league game. Teams are divided up and everyone gets to play. Seniors may join at any time and the program runs year-round. The program is offered
through Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District. For more information, call Kalsman at (805) 584-4452.
Other new sports and fitness programs for seniors include horseshoes from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Rancho Simi Community Park, 1765 Royal Ave., Simi Valley. All supplies are provided and there is no cost to participate.
Low-impact aerobics classes are from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi. The cost is $3 per class or $18 per month.
Other programs include a free hiking club to explore local trails, pickle-ball (modified paddle tennis played on a badminton court) and weekly swing or line dancing classes.
