First Light stages 'Steel Magnolias'
First Light Players presents its spring production of "Steel Magnolias" by Robert Harling May 12 through 21 at Simi Hills Christian Church, 4307 Walnut St., Simi Valley.
Showtimes are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays with matinees at 2 p.m. Saturdays. The performance on Sun., May 21 only will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The play centers around a group of eccentric women who laugh, cry, gossip and survive the hardships and splendors of life.Through the joy of weddings to the woes of marriage to the sorest trials a woman can face, six friends sit in a Louisiana beauty shop and gossip and giggle and give each other the steely resolve they need to survive the best and worst life can bring.
Cast members are Olivia Gowen, Lainee Gram, Carol Shearer, Kay Dease, Leslie McElroy, Robyn Thomas and Clarissa Raaen. The play is directed by Cathy Holbrook.
Tickets are $12 for the general public and $10 for seniors, students and groups.
Those who attend the May 13 matinee may bring their mothers for free.
