Building Safety Week declared in Simi Valley

2006-05-05 / Community

To increase public awareness and promote the understanding and importance of building safety, the Simi Valley City Council has issued a proclamation declaring May 7 through 13 Building Safety Week 2006. The state legislature has also declared the week Building Safety Week statewide.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. State building officials work to include better seismic and safety design provisions in the California Building Code to protect residents.

Building inspection and code enforcement offices take steps every day to ensure the safety of the places where people live, work, play and learn by reviewing building plans, issuing building permits and inspecting buildings during construction. This work protects the health and safety of the public by ensuring that code requirements are met and maintained.
