A retirement picnic honoring local teacher Lynda Modell is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sat., May 6 at White Oak Elementary School, 2201 Alscot Ave., Simi Valley.

Modell has taught in Simi Valley for about 35 years and is currently teaching kindergarten at White Oak Elementary.

Past and present students and their families are invited to attend. Participants are asked to bring a picnic for their family or group and a dessert to share. There is no cost to attend.
