Vision van coming to Simi
Mobile Solutions, a specialized van equipped with programs and services of the Braille Institute, will make two stops in Simi Valley in May: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mon., May 1 at Clarion Commons, 5300 E. Los Angeles Ave., and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mon., May 8 at Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi. Visitors may receive free
lowvision consultations by appointment only and can also learn about the institute's library services. Qualified patrons can sign up to begin receiving talking books almost immediately.
The van is equipped with high-powered magnifiers, closed-circuit televisions and other adaptive equipment to help maximize remaining vision.
Visitors can also purchase items from the institute's Vistas store, such as adaptive kitchen utensils and talking watches.
