Simi Valley resident Walter Santana Cervantes, 18, was recently arrested for suspected felony vehicular manslaughter in an October car accident that killed his passenger, Cynthia Scott.

Cervantes and Scott were involved in a single-vehicle accident on West Los Angeles Avenue in Simi Valley, west of Quimesa Drive, at 1:29 a.m. last Oct. 16.

An investigation revealed that Cervantes entered a curve in the roadway at high speed, lost control of the vehicle and hit a utility pole.

Scott was taken to Simi Valley Hospital but died from her injuries.

An arrest warrant was issued and Cervantes was taken into custody without incident on April 18 and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail.
