Hispanic teen hurt in hate crime
A Hispanic juvenile was the victim of a felony battery hate crime near the intersection of Sycamore Drive and Cochran Street on Sat., April 15.
At about 12:45 a.m., the 15year-old victim and his girlfriend were walking through the parking lot of a business at 2549 Cochran St. in Simi Valley.
According to the pair, four white males with shaved heads approached them and beat the youth. He suffered a cut lip, contusions and abrasions.
During the assault, the attackers called the boy racial epithets.
The four then ran away from the scene in an unknown direction.
The victim did not call police, but walked to the Simi Valley Hospital with his girlfriend.
The hospital staff reported the incident to the police department.
The attackers are all described as between 16 to 19 years of age. At least one of the assailants was wearing clothing with the insignia "Skin" on it. An investigation into the attack is underway.
