Theater foundation seeking new directors
The new season for the Theater on High Street in Moorpark will be from September through August 2007. The foundation is soliciting proposals from local community theater directors before announcing the season's schedule of events.
Any director interested in presenting a proposal should call Ralph Mauriello, foundation president, at (805) 529-7580, regarding information that's required for making a proposal.
The High Street Theater Foundation is a nonprofit corporation formed in January 2005. The foundation has produced several events, including three melodramas ("Sleeping Beauty," "Xorro" and "The Ice King"), two Broadway musicals ("Man of La Mancha" and "Company"), a musical review ("Vaudeville Returns to Moorpark"), a play ("Love Letters"), a youth musical ("Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory") and youth workshops.
The organization has also sponsored a radio broadcast ("Buddy Shell, Metaphysical Private Eye"), The Best of the Ojai Film Festival, Historic Haunts of High Street, a Buster Keaton silent film for Member Appreciation Day and a youth musical ("Pirates of Penzance").
The total attendance for all events was about 8,000.
