Randall Clifton Kling, 50, on March 24 plead not guilty and denied all special circumstances to charges related to the murders of Michael and William Budfuloski.

Kling had been indicted by the Ventura County grand jury in December for the murder of Michael Budfuloski in Simi Valley on Feb. 24, 2004 and the murder of William Budfuloski in Lancaster on Aug. 9, 2003.

The grand jury believes in both cases that the murders were premeditated. It also indicted Kling for the special circumstances of committing both murders by means of lying in wait, killing for financial gain and for committing multiple homicides.

The indictment also charges Kling with animal cruelty for killing William Budfuloski's dog and for unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition, a silencer and a forged driver's license. All the charges are alleged to be connected to the murders of the Budfuloskis.

A death penalty is possible. Ventura County D.A. Gregory Totten hasn't yet decided.

Motions are currently being heard and a jury trial is tentatively set for May 25 in Courtroom 14 of Ventura County Superior Court.
