Kiwanis clean up, beautify school grounds
On Sat., March 25, 12 volunteers from Simi Valley Kiwanis arrived at Knolls Elementary School in Simi Valley armed with shovels, rakes, gardening implements, gloves and sun hats for "Total K Day."
The group removed brush, trimmed bushes, planted ground cover, and cleaned up the landscaping. In addition, a large map of the United States was painted on the asphalt portion of the playground.
Chairperson Linda Zulager led the Kiwanis members.
Also participating in the cleanup were the president and 14 representatives of Santa Susana Kiwanis, Simi Valley High and Royal High Key Clubs and Valley View Builders Club.
The volunteers put in a total of 81 man hours toward this effort to beautify the school.
The Simi Valley Kiwanis members also provided doughnuts, barbecued hot dogs, soft drinks and water.
