'Hamlet' goes to Hollywood at Moorpark College
Moorpark College's Theatre Arts Department announces its spring production of "Hamlet" by William Shakespeare, but with a Hollywood twist.
Showtimes are March 31 and April 1, 6, 7 and 8 at 8 p.m. on the main stage of the Performing Arts Center. Matinees are Sun., April2 at 2 p.m. and Tues., April 4 at1:30 p.m. The show runs about 21/2 hours.
Caught in a web of political upheaval, Hamlet tracks down the murderer of his father through a prism of fantasy, glamour, intrigue and tragedy paralleling the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Set on a soundstage in the 1930s, the production offers the spectacle of the period and a fresh look at the play, said director and theater professor Eric Augusztiny.

As part of a special community outreach program, Moorpark College has scheduled matinees for local school groups on Thurs., March 30 at 1:30 p.m. and Wed., April 5 at 10 a.m.
Student tickets for these matinees are $5. Accompanying faculty members will be admitted free. An optional backstage tour and a question-and-answer forum after the school matinees will be available.
