Learn about wild animals in local hills
On The Edge, along with the Rancho Simi Recreation & Park District, invites the public to attend a free program to learn more about their wild neighbors who live on the urban/wilderness edge.
The event will be held at 1 p.m. on Sat., March 11 in the multipurpose room of the Santa Susana Community Center, 5005 Los Angeles Ave. in Simi Valley.
The program will feature wild animals native to the mountains of Southern California, including owls, hawks, opossum, raccoons, a mountain lion and others. The public may take home publications that offer informed lifestyle choices for residents who live next to wilderness areas.
On The Edge is a collaboration of organizations and agencies that promote public understanding about the value of wildlife and habitat and offer ways to reduce human-wildlife conflicts.
Participating agencies include California Wildlife Center, Mountains Restoration Trust, Mountain Lion Foundation, Nature of Wild-works, and Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
