B’nai Emet announces activitie
The Rev. Michael Carcerano of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Simi Valley will speak at the Shabbat service at 8 p.m. tonight, Fri., Dec. 16 at Congregation B’nai Emet in Simi Valley. Carcerano will discuss “Nostra Aetate,” a landmark document from the Second Vatican Council which promotes positive bonds between the Jewish and Catholic communities. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Congregation B’nai Emet will begin Hanukkah festivities with a kosher dinner and show at 6 p.m. Sun., Dec.18 at Valley View Middle School. Students in the fifthand sixth-grade classes will perform a Hanukkah Rap, and the adults will present “Greeced,” a Hanukkah musical. The cost is $15 for adults and $5 for children.
Rabbi Michele Paskow and Cantor Michael Russ of Congregation B’nai Emet will lead a community menorah lighting at 7 p.m. Wed., Dec. 21 at the Regal Towne Center on Tapo Canyon Road. Children from the preschool will dance, and the adult choir will sing Hanukkah songs. There will be Hanukkah gelt (chocolate coins) for all.
