She got her friend and neighbor, Michelle Kregel, to join her in participating in The Great American Bake Sale, a national campaign that encourages people to help end childhood hunger in the U.S. by hosting a bake sale in their community. The money goes to the national nonprofit Share Our Strength, which has given $180 million to more than 1,000 anti-hunger organizations nationwide.

Hall and Kregel’s bake sale is scheduled for this Sunday at Hall’s home at 6331 Marsha Ave. in Simi Valley.

Kregel, who operates a daycare out of her home, is participating because she wants every child in the U.S. as well-fed as the children she cares for.

Hall also wants to see all children well-fed and happy, and with a background as an entrepreneur, hosting a bake sale was just up her alley.

“I’m just using any contact I can think of to help me along,” said Hall, who’s also conscripted local business owners to donate banners and flyers.

In addition to doing baking themselves, the two women are recruiting everyone they know to put on an apron, from friends and family to neighbors. Their goal is to have at least 50 bakers.

“The more people that volunteer to bake, the better . . . because if we can’t make the baked goods, we can’t make the money,” Hall said.

And Hall and Kregel are making the rounds asking business owners to pass out the bake sale flyers to their customers, because besides bakers, they also need buyers.

Hall said shoppers can expect the baked goods to be priced very reasonably.

Their bake sale is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sun., Dec. 18. For more information or to volunteer to bake, please contact Hall at (805) 583-4403.
