Police Foundation provides new uniforms for Citizens on Patrol
The newest members of Citizens on Patrol will be sporting new uniforms provided by the Simi Valley Police Foundation.
Citizens on Patrol has been in existence for two and one-half years. These volunteers serve as “eyes and ears of the community” by performing vacation checks and patrolling special areas of concern, such as shopping centers.
Membership criteria includes volunteering with the Simi Valley Police Department for one year and attending the 12-week citizen academy. Funding for the academy is provided by the foundation as well.
“We’re happy to provide uniforms for this special group of volunteers. The Patrol falls under our mission, which is to encourage and promote citizen participation in maintaining a safe community,” said Brian Gabler, president of the Simi Valley Police Foundation.
