Teachers in Simi Valley schools were among the recipients of the annual Golden Bell awards given by the Ventura County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) Community Advisory Committee (CAC). The awards are presented to educational staff “who have gone above and beyond the call of duty” to make a difference for children with autism.

Recipients from the Simi Valley Unified School District include general education teacher Lynn Moderhak, paraeducator Sandi Sumpter, and special education teachers Chris O’Brien and Cassandra Fernandez.

The awards were presented at school board meetings by SELPA executive director Mary Samples and CAC Chairperson Daysi Ortiz.
