Free rubbish dropoff Sunday for Simi residents

2005-10-14 / Community

Simi Valley residents may dispose of residential rubbish for free from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sun., Oct. 16 at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center, 2801 Madera Road, Simi Valley. This event is for local residents and nonprofits only.

Appliances, clean concrete and asphalt, and clean wood and greenwaste will also be accepted for recycling. Residents are requested to separate recyclable materials from rubbish so it can be recycled and not landfilled.

No commercial waste, hazardous waste, liquids, tires, televisions, computer monitors or fluorescent light tubes will be accepted.

The CHP requires all loads to be covered to present spillage. Proof of local residency, such as a driver’s license with a Simi Valley address, will be required. Residents must unload their own vehicles.

To avoid paying commercial dump fees and to expedite the process, residents bringing their waste to the free day in a commercial vehicle should call the landfill at (805) 579-7267 prior to Sunday for more information.
