Leadership class tees up for teen center
Leadership Simi Valley Class of 2005 is hosting a fundraiser golf tournament on Mon., Oct. 24 at the Wood Ranch Golf Club, 301 Wood Ranch Parkway, Simi Valley.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., followed by a putting contest at 10 a.m. and a scramble, shotgun start at 11 a.m. This benefit is to raise funds to establish a local teen center.
The $200 tournament entry fee includes golf, barbecue lunch, dinner buffet, live and silent auction and raffle giveaways. All fees are tax-deductible, with proceeds going to support the teen center.
There are four levels of opportunities to get a foursome involved. Sponsorships are available for tee signs and tee bag sponsors.
“Our leadership class looked at the structure of Simi Valley and determined that the teen center was a much-needed project,” said class member Joann Abruzzese. “We got involved to help raise money to provide our teens with a positive, safe and fun environment where they can participate in creative and ageappropriate activities.”
Greg Barnes, teen center project manager, said, “We’re creating a place where teens want to meet because they have input into activity and program development. This not only builds into them a sense of ownership, but also provides them with activities which meet their needs within a monitored environment.”
