Local man arrested for alleged vehicle burglaries

Simi Valley resident Jorge Amador, 21, was arrested on Fri., Sept. 16 for allegedly burglarizing three vehicles by smashing the side windows and removing stereo equipment.

At about 1:35 a.m., Officer Brian Young of the Simi Valley Police Department was patrolling in the 1900 block of Larch Street and saw Amador running away from a vehicle with a smashed window.

After a foot pursuit, K-9 Rex was brought in. Rex found the suspect climbing a block wall into the backyard of a residence in the 2100 block of Marvel Street. Amador was arrested without incident.

The suspect was allegedly armed with a .22-caliber semiautomatic handgun during the crime, which he attempted to dispose of as he fled through a yard on Gaviota Court. The gun and the stolen property were recovered.

Amador was charged with three counts of vehicle burglary and a weapons violation.
