Public invited to Blessing of the Animals

The public is invited to bring pets to the annual Blessing of the Animals service at 10:15 a.mSun., Oct. 2 at St. Francis of AssisEpiscopal Church, 280 RoyaAve., Simi Valley. The service will be held outside on the patio with “pet romping” room on the lawn. Patio seating will be provided, but guests may want to bring lawn chairs oblankets for lawn seating. Animals must be on leash oin carriers. Each pet will receive an individual blessing from the vicar, FrSteven J. Dean, and Holy Communion will be served.

Blessing of the animals is a tradition dating from the fourth century in honor of St. Francis oAssisi, whose feast day is celebrated on Oct. 4.
