Republicans vigorously defended

2005-07-01 / Letters

Mr. Nelson writes his letter directed at “true Republicans.” How about “true Democrats”? How about true liberals or even true conservatives? The bottom line is, we are all Americans and our nation is at war.

Mr. Nelson forgot to mention in his haste to condemn this administration on an unproven document, that we, as a nation, were brutally attacked on Sept. 11, 2001. I stood at the Pentagon and watched Americans die and felt tears of rage run down my cheeks.

Mr. Nelson would like you to believe that the excesses of Presidents Nixon and Clinton were minuscule compared to “lying” to congress, urging impeachment of President Bush.   I, for one minute, do not believe this president lied to the American people or to Congress about the WMDs thought to be in the possession of Iraq. If he did, I would be the first to cast a stone. But here are some facts:

Iran fell because of the poli

cies–or lack of–of President Carter.

Because of the inaction of Clinton, this country and its troops were attacked on two separate occasions with no credible response.

Because of the Clinton administration policies under Janet Reno, walls were established, preventing inter-agency cooperation between the CIA and FBI.   The bottom line is we have not been attacked since Sept. 11.

As I remember, Bush did receive a majority vote and Clinton would not have been elected if it were not for Ross Perot. Chris Biller Moorpark
