College prep for freshmen with learning disabilities

Moorpark College and ACCESS are offering a half-unit, one-day course designed for incoming freshmen with learning disabilities. Management of Learning Differences will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sat., Aug. 6 at Moorpark College, 7075 Campus Road, Moorpark. A lunch break will be provided from noon to 1 p.m.

Students will need to park in Lot F, bring their own sack lunch and arrive to the Forum by 8:15 a.m.

The course will cover self advocacy, disability law, college study skills, assistive technology, time management, degrees and certificates, transferring from Moorpark College to university, confidence building and first semester classes.

To complete the course, participants are required to apply to the college, register for fall class LS M30 No. 71544, bring a pencil, be on time, pay attention, ask questions, complete in-class projects and group quizzes and stay until the end.
