Chamber street fair adds new events

2005-05-13 / Community

Produced by the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce—along with help from local business, organizations, the city and the community—the Simi Valley Street Fair has sold out of available booth space in several of the past years. This year should be no exception.

Moving the event permanently to Cochran Street, between Galena and Sequoia, the Chamber can accommodate more than 300 booth spaces. Farmers Insurance has once again approved the use of their lot for event parking.

New this year will be a bike rodeo, sponsored by the Simi Valley Police Foundation. The rodeo will feature bicycle safety for kids and a world-class bike demonstration, three times daily, from a group from the hit "X-Games" show.

The Street Fair and Emergency Expo open at 9 a.m. Sat., May 14. "There is something for everyone," said event chair Mike Chandler. "There are children’s activities, business information, health- care booths, lots of food, demonstrations and free giveaway items."

Official sponsors of this year’s event are: Acupuncture Health Care, Adelphia, Community Medical Group, Downey Savings and Loan, Dr. Wayne Press, Hummingbird Nest Ranch, Money Mailer of Simi Valley, Reardon Simi Valley Funeral Home, Simi Valley Hospital, Simply Spoiled Tanning and Day Spa, The Boeing Company, WM/GI Industries.

The Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce is the community’s largest broad-based organization with more than 700 members.
