Simi Valley Days theme set, logo entries needed

"Moments and Memories" is the theme of this year’s Simi Valley Days. The winning theme, submitted by Leslie Randall of Moorpark, was chosen from more than 30 entries received from residents. Randall will ride in the parade and receive a $100 cash prize.

"We were excited to receive so many entries," said Wayne Schultz, president of Simi Valley Days. "It was a tough decision."

Simi Valley Days is renewing the Western feel of this year’s event and will add the tag line "A Celebration of Our Western Roots" to the theme. As part of this renewal, Western Dress-Up week will be reinstalled. One week prior to the festival, employers will be encouraged to allow employees to dress Western-style during the week. "We really want the community to get involved in this great event and embrace our Western roots," said Schultz.

Logo design entries are requested to capture the essence of the theme: "Simi Valley Days Moments and Memories, a Celebration of Our Western Roots." The design should include the year—2005—and at least two colors. The contest is open to the public. All entries are due by April 30.

Entries may be e-mailed to simivalleydays10@aol.com or mailed to Simi Valley Days Logo Contest, PO Box 164, Simi Valley CA, 93062. Participants are asked to include name, address and telephone number with entries.

This year marks the 21st anniversary of this five-day community event scheduled for Sept. 14 through 18. Proceeds will benefit more than 40 local charities.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information call (805) 581-4280 or visit www.simivalleydays.com.
