Don’t let feral cats breed indiscriminately
Don’t let feral cats breed indiscriminately
I am writing in response to Carol Olsen’s article in the Feb. 11 edition. My experience with this program has been life-changing for me.
Every year in Ventura County, thousands of kittens are born homeless, then euthanized at the shelter. Pet cats not spayed or neutered and stray and feral cats are flooding the shelters with kittens and cats who are then deemed homeless.
Valley Veterinary Clinic Nonprofit was created to help all Ventura County residents put an end to this tragedy. We, with your help, have a solution to this horrific epidemic.
First, please spay or neuter your pet cat before 5 months of age. For East Ventura County pet owners of limited income, Valley Veterinary Clinic Nonprofit offers low-cost spay and neutering.
Second, if you are feeding or are aware of stray or feral cats, please contact the clinic, which performs free spay/neuter procedures for feral and stray cats. Volunteers are available to help and can offer the free loan of humane traps to catch homeless/feral cats for surgery. Valley Veterinary Clinic Nonprofit has helped me spay/neuter and find homes for at least 15 homeless/feral cats at my home.
I live in an area of Simi where many cats are just dumped by their owners. It’s not the cat’s fault. Let’s band together as a community and help prevent the needless euthanasia of the innocent kittens and cats. If you have any needs or questions, please feel free to call (805) 584-3823.

This will conclude the letters on low-cost spay and neuter clinics.
