SACRIFICE FOR COUNTRY-At the United Holding Hands Together event at Rancho Tapo Community Park in Simi Valley on Sat., March 12, Navy Airman Ray Fien, disabled American veteran of World War II, spoke of his love for his country. Fien recounted how the plane in which he was the tail gunner was shot down in the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944. He broke two vertebrae, four ribs and punctured a lung and was in a coma for six days before regaining consciousness, to the surprise of his doctors and nurses.
