Those who fought floods to be honored March 29

The Ventura County Fire Department will host an awards ceremony from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tues., March 29 at the Ventura Beach Marriott, 2055 Harbor Blvd., Ventura, honoring all personnel involved in "acts of great courage and heroism during the January storms that ravaged our area," according to Joe Luna, the department’s information officer.

Among those to be honored are members of the Ventura County Firefighters, Ventura City Firefighters, Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputies, Ventura County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue personnel, California Highway Patrol officers and Carpinteria-Summerland Firefighters. Two individuals from the public sector will be recognized and awarded either a Medal of Valor, Meritorious Service Medal or a Life-Saving Medal.
