Gang task force bolstered The Simi Valley City Council is soliciting applications from residents who wish to serve on the city’s Community Gang Task Force, which was formed in 1995 to conduct a study of the gang situation in Simi Valley and develop a comprehensive set of recommendations to resolve the gang issue. The Gang Task Force, chaired by City Councilmember Barbra Williamson, needs two community members. The panel consists of four community members in addition to representatives from law enforcement, the school and park districts, the Youth Council, various local religious and community service organizations. The community members serve two-year terms. Individuals interested in applying for a community member appointment to the Gang Task Force are invited to get an application from the Simi Valley Police Department, 3901 Alamo St. in Simi Valley. The deadline for returning the application is 5 p.m. on Fri., Nov. 5. Applicants will be interviewed and recommendations for appointment will be forwarded to the city council for approval.
