New concert series debutes in park
The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District has partnered with the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center Foundation to establish their own community Concert in the Park called "American Celebration of Music."
The first concert will be presented at Rancho Simi Community Park on Sat., Oct. 2 from 3 to 7 p.m. and includes five separate bands depicting a cross-section of American music.
The park district’s Showmobile stage will be set up east of the amphitheater, facing the picnic pavilion. There will be plenty of food and entertainment vendors on hand for guests and also ample parking, with an estimated 150 stalls available.
"This is a type of test," said Doug Gale, the Recreation and Leisure Services Administrator for the district. "If successful, a free concert series may be planned for next summer."
The park district will supply the park, parking attendants and flyers while also working closely with vendors. The cultural foundation will be responsible for the entertainment, sound equipment and technician while also helping with the promotion and volunteer help for the event.
For additional information about the supcoming concert, contact the park district office at (805) 585-4400.
