Dust your stored treasures
The Ventura County Museum of History & Art will host an Appraisal Day presented by Bonham & Butterfield’s Auctioneers from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Tues., Aug. 17 in the museum’s courtyard, 100 E. Main St., downtown Ventura.
Experts will give verbal estimates of the auction value of the following: Asian art; books and manuscripts; California, American and European paintings; contemporary art; fine jewelry; and prints. Patrons may bring up to five items for appraisal. Cost is $5 per item for museum members and $10 per item for nonmembers. Memberships may be purchased at the event, and there will be a special gift for new members who join that day.
For objects too large to transport to the museum, a photograph with measurements and other identifying information will be sufficient. All Appraisal Day proceeds will benefit the museum’s educational programs.
