Moorpark students honored

Moorpark College recently ended its year with three evenings of dance showcasing dance classes and faculty choreography, as well as student choreographers and guest companies from the community.

Merit awards in each discipline for excellent work, improvement and class attitude were presented to Diane Wilson (ballet), Madelyn Washington (modern dance), Jeff Newman (jazz dance), Joel Poehlmann (tap dance), Libby Martin (ballroom), Jeff Antoine (swing dance), and Gavin Harry (choreography).

The most improved dancer award went to James Campbell, and Heather Castillo was recognized as the most inspirational dancer.

Scholarships offered by The Body Shop of Thousand Oaks went to Candice Cross, Jeff Newman, Jenelle Coyne, and Felicia Giacomi.

The Jennifer Ann Prouty Memorial Scholarships were presented to Ashley Bergin, Candice Cross and Jeff Newman, and Gavin Harry received the Tane Memorial Scholarship and Award for Outstanding Student, Dancer and Choreographer.

A special faculty service award was presented to Sandi Patterson in appreciation for her help "behind the scenes."
