Rotary honors Simi businessman
Ron Meek, owner and manager of the Oakridge Athletic Club in Simi Valley was honored as Business Person of the Year by the Rotary Club of Simi Sunset at their June 15 meeting. The award is based on a combination of community achievements including "providing inspiration to others, demonstrating a commitment to business ethics, showing professional creativity or innovation, and making significant contributions to the community or community-oriented projects," according to the club.
The club cited Meek for donating furniture and workout equipment to Simi Valley schools, contributing to many athletic programs and being an active supporter of the Boys & Girls Club.
"Ron has always been a leader in our community," said Rob Sherman, president of the Rotary Club of Simi Sunset. "He not only inspired me, but also showed me by example that, with enough hard work, anyone can achieve his goals."
