Metrolink to increase fares this summer
2004-05-07 / Community
Metrolink’s 11-member board of directors has approved a 4 percent across-the-board fare increase that will go into effect on July 1. The board also approved a plan to restructure the agency’s fare policy over a 10-year period beginning July 1, 2005.
Under the restructuring proposal, all fares will be based on a measurement of the driving distance between stations, rather than the current zone-based system.
The 4 percent increase in Metrolink fares will help offset rising operating costs, fund capital improvements, and provide enhancements in safety and security.
