Business improvement grants available
The Simi Valley Community Development Agency is offering grants to commercial property owners+ and business owners located in the Los Angeles Avenue and Tapo Street Revitalization Areas. The Façade Renovation Programs are designed to improve the physical appearance of existing commercial structures.
These programs provide matching grants of up to $20,000 to qualified property/business owners for building façade improvements.
Examples of eligible improvements include painting, installation of awnings, canopies, shutters, windows, signs, landscaping and irrigation, decorative tile, new storefronts and doors.
The Tapo Street Façade Renovation Program, which began in 1998, has been offering matching grants to property and business owners located on Tapo Street between the 118 freeway and the Arroyo Simi and on Los Angeles Avenue between Angus Avenue and Bishop Lane. The agency has completed 19 projects since the program’s inception. As of this January, the Community Development Agency has invested $495,635 in the Tapo Street Façade Renovation Program.
The Los Angeles Avenue Façade Renovation Program provides matching grants to property and business owners located in the Los Angeles Avenue commercial corridor between Erringer Road and Sinaloa Road. As this program is new, no projects have been completed to date.
