Take crinkle art class at library Richard Evans, who teaches animation, computer graphics and other applications at Calabasas and Agoura High Schools, will present a demonstration of "crinkle art" at 7:30 p.m. Fri., May 21 at the Simi Valley Library, 2969 Tapo Canyon Road, Simi Valley. The event is sponsored by the Simi Valley Art Association. Participants will be invited to try their hand at the crinkle technique, which Evans describes as using the paper texture as part of the art work, which also uses acrylic or watercolor paint. His style is described as mostly impressionistic. The finished work is mounted in a shadow box frame to emphasize the textural aspect. Evans, who studied at the Art Center College and formerly worked at Walt Disney Studios, currently exhibits at local galleries and has won awards for his pencil drawings and computer techniques. The Simi Valley Art Association will present its "Days of Summer" Art Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat., May 22 and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sun., May 23 at the library. They will offer visitors the opportunity to select the winner of the "People’s Choice" award for the show, which will features members’ original art work for sale.
