Ventura Mariners victorious


Ventura Mariners youth hockey team

The Ventura Mariners won the Squirt B Championship Game of the Southern California Amateur Hockey Association on Sun., March 21 at the Long Beach Arena. The Mariners defeated the West Valley Wolves from Panorama City 3-1 to take the title.

The Mariners Squirt B team, whose home rink is Easy Street Arena in Simi Valley, is comprised of 9- and 10-year-olds from the Conejo Valley. Earlier this season, the Squirt B team placed second in tournaments in Phoenix, Anaheim and San Diego and held the second place in their league during the season, before storming through the league playoffs undefeated all the way to the final game.

The team is coached by Ed Norick of Thousand Oaks and the Assistant Coach is Jim Marvin of Newbury Park.

Team members are as follows: Blake Aguilar, Nathan Shirley and Cody McPhail of Simi Valley; Trevor Sears and Brennan Wright of Moorpark; Dallas Marvin of Newbury Park, Steven Golditch, Pete Blaber and David Norick of Thousand Oaks; Jack Davis of Westlake Village; Jackson Patrick of Calabasas; Marty Kerns of Oak Park; Chelsey Goldberg, Chad Goldberg and Elliot Cutbill of Agoura Hills.
